Vision at London Film Festival 2023

Congratulations to Vision members with work heading to this year’s London Film Festival! Cinematographers Anna Macdonald, Kia Fern-Little, Jonas Mortensen and Spike Morris along with Production Designer Paix Robinson all have films showing across the event. Head to the London Film Fesitval website for showtimes and read below for more details of each film...

Anna shot and Paix designed FESTIVAL OF SLAPS, written and directed by Abdou Cissé, which is an action-packed short that explores the misconceptions of Pan African parenting and the clash of modern life.

Also shot by Anna is ASOG, directed by Sean Devlin and set in the wake of a destructive typhoon, ASOG is a witty combination of road movie and docu-drama that follows non-binary Jaya, as they travel across the country in the hope of winning a beauty pageant.

Kia's THE GIRLS ROOM, written and directed by Tracey Lopes is a coming-of-age short that follows three girls as they share a bedroom throughout a transformative year.

Spike’s SEEKERS, written and directed by Josh Feder is a short set in the Summer of 1995, during which the faith of a couple living in an isolated UFO cult is put to the ultimate test when a huge comet appears in the night sky, fulfilling a long-awaited prophecy.

Jonas’ feature film BONUS TRACK, directed by Julia Jackman and written by Mike Gilbert & Josh O’Conner, is the story of a teenager aspiring to be a musician, who decides to team up with the son of a rock star to try and win the school talent show.

AREA BOY, designed by Paix is a short film written and directed by Iggy London that follows Eli, a young teenager torn between two worlds, who tries to balance fitting in with finding his true identity after he moves to a provincial town. Excitingly, AREA BOY has been nominated for Best Short Film. Good luck to all those involved!

SUCH A LOVELY DAY also designed by Paix is a short that you can catch at the festival, directed and written by Simon Woods.

You'll also be able to watch PRAY, a short written and directed by Caleb Azumah Nelson and designed by Paix that traverses grief, hope and first love -it's a portrait of brotherhood that looks at what we will do for the people we love, how we find joy in the midst of overwhelming despair, and how community can lift us up.
